The MEDICE Health Family invests in the fund to promote innovative, digital business models in the healthcare sector.

On the occasion of the launch of the “Heal Capital 2” fund on September 23 in Berlin, the MEDICE Health Family announced that it would invest in the newly launched fund via its VC unit MediVentures. At the high-profile event, Judith Gerlach (MdL, Bavarian State Minister for Health, Care and Prevention), among others, emphasized the significant innovative power of new start-ups for the German healthcare system that are supported by the fund.

The “Heal Capital” venture capital fund initiated by private health insurers (PKV) was set up at the beginning of 2020 to drive forward digital health innovations. This includes topics such as digital health applications, telemedicine, digital prevention and the digitalization of care. “Heal Capital 2” builds on the active ‘Heal Capital’ fund, which currently supports 18 European start-ups in the fields of diagnostics, therapy and infrastructure with a volume of more than 100 million euros.

The MEDICE Health Family stands for working together to improve the health of mankind - true to the motto “Together for a healthier world”. The patient is therefore consistently at the center of its efforts, and this also applies to the company's investments in the (digital) healthcare solutions of tomorrow.

“In order to further improve patient care, the MEDICE Health Family is developing clinically validated multimodal healthcare solutions based on its pharmacological expertise by combining pharmaceuticals, digital solutions and nutritional concepts. This allows us to close gaps in care and help people at every stage of their illness. Our cooperation with Heal Capital is intended to create additional mutual potential for innovative digital solutions,” says Dr. med. Katja Pütter-Ammer, Managing Partner of MEDICE.

The establishment of the important Medigital pillar will support this. “With a wide range of digital solutions, the Health Family wants to give therapists the opportunity to individualize and improve patient management with digital intervention options on the one hand and to increase patient sovereignty on the other,” adds Dr. Felix Lambrecht, Managing Director of Medigital.

Digital healthcare solutions will continue to gain in importance in the coming years. Through “Heal Capital 2”, MediVentures invests in innovative business models at the interface between healthcare and technology throughout Europe. The aim is to improve medical care and drive forward digitalization. It is precisely in these areas that the MEDICE Health Family continues to see a great deal of growth potential and is taking another important step in its strategic direction by investing in the digital healthcare solutions of tomorrow.
