New construction projects in Iserlohn: Strategically important investments at the company's headquarters

The MEDICE Health Family continues to invest in the location of the company in Iserlohn. Two new construction projects on the site will provide the basis for sustainable growth. For this purpose, the MEDICE Health Family is investing a high seven-digit amount.

In order to further expand the state-of-the-art pharmaceutical production at the company's site in Iserlohn, the MEDICE Health Family is investing in two new buildings to expand the existing sterile department and distribution logistics. The investments are also a clear commitment to Germany and Iserlohn as a production location, explains Dr. med. Dr. oec. Richard Ammer: "The pharmaceutical industry is a key industry for the development of Germany as a business location." It is an outstanding sector of the economy which, in addition to high productivity, also possesses the great innovative strength to survive in global competition.

The new state-of-the-art sterile department of MEDICE was built on a 400m² area. The reason for the extension was the modernization and expansion of the filling line for the commercial production of Medivitan® ready-to-use syringes, a build-up cure with a combination of vitamins B6, B12 and folic acid specially adapted to cell metabolism. A special plus of the Medivitan® build-up cure is its unique two-chamber system, which makes the combined supply of the build-up substances B6, B12 and folic acid with only one syringe possible in the first place.

This special dosage form required considerable demands on the technical implementation, which required a development and realization time of more than 3 years. The new plant presents the state of the art in terms of aseptic filling of prefilled syringes, with a capacity of up to 6000 units/hour. In addition to the filling technology, a complete building with airlocks, clean rooms, and process and operating technology for batch production and filling was constructed. The entire area is currently in the qualification phase. An acceptance inspection by the drug regulatory authority, as a prerequisite for commercial production, is planned for next year.

In order to also adapt the existing logistics infrastructure to the increasing sales volume, the logistics area at the Iserlohn site is also being expanded. For this purpose, a new state-of-the-art picking center will be added to the existing logistics hub. After the planned completion in fall 2024, a further optimization of the distribution logistics is expected - an important condition to guarantee the availability of products and thus to secure the supply security nationally as well as internationally.

Commenting on the MEDICE Health Family's decision to expand production and logistics at the Iserlohn site, managing partner Dr. med. The MEDICE Health Family has been able to significantly increase its sales in recent years. Forward-looking corporate planning forecasts further company growth. The expansion of the two departments on the Iserlohn company premises is therefore 100% in line with the future-oriented focus of the Health Family.
